AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM TEACHER and VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURAL - FFA SUMMER PROJECTS-DCHS CLASSROOM TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 

  1. Hold Valid West Virginia Teacher Certification/Licensure with an endorsement in Agricultural Education5-Adult. 
  2. Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
  3. Satisfactory evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers and/or supervisors.
  4. Exhibits knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in the personal interview.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
  6. Educational philosophy comparable with the Doddridge County Board of Education philosophy, mission statement and core beliefs.
  7. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  8. Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
  9. Exhibits knowledge of current instructional technologies. 

 

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal and Attendance/CTE Coordinator.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

All professional educators must: maintain valid educator licensure at all times, renew educator licenses as set forth by WVDE, maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgrade professional skills, communicate effectively and exhibit professional teaching knowledge and strategies.  

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

             

  1. Establish and maintain a program of instruction and evaluation which emphasizes student learning and skill development.
  2. Implement programs of study.
  3. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  4. Use instructional management systems which increase student learning.
  5. Evaluate and communicate student progress to parents/guardians.
  6. Monitor student progress towards mastery of instructional objects and goals.
  7. Use and care of commercial equipment.
  8. Integrate performance-based learning with academics, entrepreneurship and technology skills to prepare students for successful employment in the 21st Century.
  9. Provide students with real world learning opportunities and instruction.
  10. Communicate effectively within the educational community.
  11. Meet professional responsibilities.
  12. Ensure that SAE Project/Credits and student portfolios are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  13. Schedule and conduct farm visits.
  14. Participate and maintain cooperative projects with: Doddridge County Extension Office, Farm Bureau, Park and Farmer's Market.
  15. Design and deliver a high quality program to serve secondary students' needs.
  16. Cooperate/collaborate with appropriate high school staff in coordinating the total agricultural education program at Doddridge County High School.
  17. Serve as a FFA advisor, an intra-curricular organization that affords students with the opportunities for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
  18. Serve as a liaison of the Doddridge County High School FFA Chapter and the Alumni of Doddridge County FFA.
  19. Organize and facilitate quarterly meetings for the Programmatic Community Advisory Council.
  20. Teacher will accurately complete student records: SAE and other records as needed.
  21. Teacher will help sponsor projects which may include: Ham/Bacon/Egg Sale, fundraising and sale of plant products.
  22. Teacher will be responsible for providing instructional supervision for student's supervised agricultural education programs.
  23. Agricultural Education Program will be divided in to:   1) Animal Processing 2) Plant Systems and 3) Agribusiness Systems.
  24. Curriculum Focus will be:  1) Animal Processing 2) Plant Systems and 3) Agribusiness Systems.
  25. Conduct other duties as assigned by the Principal, Attendance/CTE Coordinator, Director of Student Instructional Services, or the Superintendent.

 

 

TERM:  240-day contract (To begin the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year).
